Keith Mindlink (Keith McIntosh) was born in the Caribbean island of St Vincent whose grandfather was a professional played saxophonist. Keith comes from a very musical family and it was compulsory for all children to learn an instrument. The McIntosh family are the known on the Island and well known throughout St Vincent as musicians. Keith came to the UK in 1971 aged 11 and started piano lessons within a month of setting foot on English soil as it was his mother's wish.
At 14 he joined a calypso band as the keyboards player performing in pub gigs and Boat rides. In time he later joined a band called ‘Bridge Connection’. As some of the older members left, new members joined and the name of the band was eventually renamed to ‘Mindlink’.
Based in Stoke Newington the band were soon signed to a record label called ‘Silver Camel’ who released their first single in 1981 entitled ‘World Affairs’, however they did complete an album for the label but the album called ‘Points of Decision’ which was recorded at the world famous ‘Trident Studio based in London’s Wardour Street in the West End. After leaving Silver Camel the Mindlink band were soon signed to a record label called ‘Ice Records owned by the famous Eddie Grant. They did a lot of backing music for other famous artists like Alton Ellis, Delroy Wilson, Ken Booth, Abyssinian, The Mighty Diamonds and Fred Locks just a few.
In the early 1980’s the Mindlink band split leaving Keith to start his own solo career with his own band called ‘Tribal Awaking’. His first single was a Bob Marley track called ‘Rebel Music’. In 1999 Keith opened a training centre and club in Hackney, London and created many shows with international artists. The training saw seventy young people a day and it was primarily musically based however 2009 it came to a close as it could not be sustained.
Today, Keith is signed to release songs with Cougar Records. He has also found himself producing and arranging for other artists and continued to perform live session backing performances for artists like Joyce Simms, Dawn Penn, Earnest Rangaling, (one of the world's best guitarists), and was musical director for Janet Kaye, Carroll Thompson, Winston Reedy, Winston Francis, Suger Minnot, Big Youth and the Heptones.
